With the advent
of the Foreign Investment Act and Regulation 2005, the Foreign Investment
Registration process will now be the responsibility of the Registrar
of Investment. Foreign Investors who wish to invest in Solomon Islands
must.
1.
Apply to the Registrar of Investment for investment registration.
To
apply investors must:
2. Fill in an official investment Registration
Form, Form 2 with all required information filled (Your
guide on how to fill in your application form)
3. Attach additional information when required
4. Lodge the application form to the Registrar of Investment with
a fee of SBD$200.00 payable to the treasury division
5. The Registrar of Investment shall upon reviewing the application
form will then register the investor should the investment activity
being applied for does not come under
a) Prohibited Activity
b) Reserved Activity
6. In approving the investment activity, the Registrar will
a)
record the prescribed information relating to the investment activity
b) Issue to the foreign investor the certificate of registration
for the investment activity.
7. Incorporate your company in Solomon Islands.
Issuance of the certificate of registration legally qualified the
investor to proceed and conduct his business in the Solomon Islands
under the approved investment activities.
Other
Requirements:
Registering of an investment activity requires that foreign investors
also observe the labor and immigration acts. Under these acts foreign
investors must obtain
a. Work Permit issued by
the Commissioner of Labor
b. Residence Permit issued by the Director of Immigration.
